The single-family house in Šestajovice is conceived as a calm and cultivated interpretation of a contemporary villa, responding to the character of a long and narrow plot located on the edge between Klánovice and Šestajovice. The site, defined by a clear order and established atmosphere, provided a strong framework rather than a limitation. The architecture reacts directly and without unnecessary gestures.
The single-storey volume follows the axis of the plot and naturally divides the layout into a social and a private zone. The street frontage and front garden belong to an open living space that, during the warmer months, transforms into an extended exterior of the house. Bedrooms oriented toward the rear of the plot create a quiet retreat for everyday life. The boundary fences along the northern and southern edges are conceived not as barriers, but as subtle frames defining both the house and the garden.
The clients’ request for a spatially generous “villa-like” character is achieved through restrained form: reduction of detail, large glazed surfaces, and a strong emphasis on natural daylight. The gently articulated southern façade draws light deep into the interior throughout the day and blurs the boundary between house and garden.
The only vertical accent is a study placed above the main volume. This subtle pavilion provides a space for concentration while giving the house a clearly identifiable character without dominating its surroundings.
The interior is based on a limited material palette — wood, concrete, glass, and neutral finishes. The clarity of detail results from close collaboration between mackovič architecture, Rembrandt Homebuilders, and skilled craftsmen.
The house offers calm, contemporary, and long-term sustainable living, firmly rooted in its context.
