The aim of the proposal is to transform the currently undefined space in front of the municipal office into a fully functional and vibrant Masaryk Square. Today, the area functions primarily as a traffic corridor rather than a true civic center. The concept therefore establishes a clearly defined rectangular square, into which greenery is introduced in selected areas. The landscape design respects existing mature trees while creating intimate corners and diverse opportunities for use.
A major issue is the difference in ground levels, previously resolved by steep ramps and staircases that feel both barrier-like and aesthetically inappropriate. The new design connects the levels through gentle ramps, creating a fully accessible public space. The leveled terrain allows the square to host markets, exhibitions, and other community events. Water jets and misting elements provide cooling during the summer months, while subtle terrain modeling forms a small tribune and stage suitable for cultural programs or an open-air cinema. The southern level changes are addressed with generous seating steps oriented toward a growing tree and the local Sokol hall. Parking near the bus terminal is visually screened by a tree-lined avenue, while the northern edge is softened by a small grove offering shaded seating.
The reconstruction of the Dubina building works with the existing volume and allows for the addition of one floor with a pitched roof. The original structure is stripped back to its load-bearing skeleton, into which new masonry and lightweight façade systems are inserted. The building is complemented by a louvered shading façade with a projecting covered gable, establishing continuity with the surrounding development and creating a sheltered ground floor.
The ground floor accommodates a retail arcade, library, café, and health center. The second floor provides new premises for the municipal office and a multifunctional hall, while the attic level houses technical facilities and two apartments.
